Foto Ana BAna  Barreira. Law graduate (Complutense University, 1990). She holds two Master of Laws degrees: in Environmental Law from London University (1993) and in International Legal Studies from New York University (1996). She is founding member of the Spanish non-profit organization, IIDMA, where since its foundation she has mainly developed her professional activity in several  fields of environmental law and policy. Since 2005 She is the attorney for Oceana Europe, an international NGO specialized in the protection of the marine environment. She has worked in projects related to environmental law and policy as well as on projects on legal drafting in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, México, Portugal, Republic of Montenegro, Republic of Serbia and Slovakia. She has participated in international negotiations. She has experience in water laws legal drafting, international river basins and in the WFD and the MSFD. She has participated in projects founded by the EU as Life+ and contracts awarded by the European Commission as one to analyse the transposition of the WFD into Spanish Law or the legal status of River Basin Management Plans under Spanish Law. She has coordinated teams up to 15 persons in projects funded by EC.
